The Making the World a Better Place (formerly Lindwall) Foundation is a 501c3 publicly-supported non-profit organization. As the Foundation is currently transitioning to a more structured focus on international outreach programs involving personal and community healing, we are actively seeking involvement and support from individuals, organizations, foundations and various donor sources. As we develop our community healing projects, we would appreciate input and feedback as well as financial support. We believe our programs are well-conceived and have great potential to benefit people and communities that have been affected by violence, war, terrorism, ethnic and racial conflict as well as natural disasters. We welcome all enquiries in a spirit of engaging in constructive dialogue and discussion around these issues.
The Foundation is currently developing grant proposals around two specific areas of interest.
Personal and Community Healing Program
This project is building upon the relationships and Releasing work that Foundation facilitators have done in South Africa and in Louisiana with victims of Hurricane Katrina. Our focus in 2009 is to work more intensively with our individual and community contacts that we have established in South Africa to develop more in-depth evaluation of how Releasing can be taught in training-of-the-trainer workshops. We would also like to evaluate prospects and constraints for practicing Releasing in other regions and areas in Africa. We believe the Foundation Personal and Community Healing Program has the potential to be a valuable initiative for communities throughout the world that have been affected by violence, war and conflict as well as natural disasters. For more information on this grant proposal please contact Dr. Stephen Marcus.
HIV/AIDS Education and Prevention Program
In addition to the Personal and Community Healing Program, another focus for 2009 is exploring the potential for using Releasing to strengthen communication, intimacy and commitment in relationships, as a means of reducing promiscuity and the spread of HIV/AIDS. We believe this approach to HIV/AIDS education and prevention is an important supplement to conventional programs that emphasize knowledge about the HIV virus and how it is spread, sexually transmitted diseases and the use of condoms, etc. If the underlying emotional problems and issues that lead to divorce, separation, infidelity and promiscuity can be addressed and resolved, the end result is likely to reduce the spread of HIV/AIDS in general. Given that Africa – and Southern Africa in particular – have high rates of HIV infection and transmission, many approaches should be explored to help stem the crisis. For more information on this project, please contact Dr. Stephen Marcus.
